Final Results
Finals were played on Sunday evening April 24, 2005 in
Downers Grove North High School
For the Championship McKinley Park drew Willowbrook 4:4
In a tight match, the tie breaker rule came into effect and
the team with better result in mixed doubles games claimed the win.
Willowbrook won both of their mixed doubles matches,
coming back from a deficit 2:4, and claiming the inaugural Badminton
Team League Championship. The rules are changing for the next season, and there
will be only 7 individual matches (2xMS, 2xWS, 1xMD,1xWD, 1xXD) played in each
team match avoiding a need for a tie breaker rule.
For the Third Place: Park Ridge beat Chicago Dragons 8:0
In absence of Dragons best female player Shannon Pohl,
the Park Ridge team dominated the match for the 3rd place.

Download Match Report Sheet in MSWord format.
Download Match Report Sheet in RTF format.
Rules:
Round-robin team matches plus play-offs.
Each team match consists of 2 men's singles, 2 ladies' singles,
1 mixed doubles, 1 men's double, and 1 ladies' double.
Games count 2 out of 3 games, each game to 15, except the ladies'
singles played to 11. The prefered order (unless BOTH captains
agree otherwise) of games played is WS1, MS1, WS2, MS2, WD, MD, XD1
All IBF rules, including sportsmanship and dress code, shall apply. Team
players should wear the team colar shirt with the name of the team,
its sponsors, and the possibly the name of the player
Two different players need to play in the two singles matches, unless
BOTH teams captains agree otherwise. Women are allowed to play men's
events. The match should start with the wave of four singles games,
followed by the wave of the two doubles games, followed by the mixed
doubles game. The order can be changed only upon mutual agreement
between both team captains. The breaks between the matches should
not be more than 15 minutes.
It should take under two hours to complete a whole match in a gym with
3 or 4 courts available, while tying 4 courts only for the duration
of the singles matches only. It shall take less than 2.5 hours if only
2 courts are available for the play.
The system allows a team to consist of anywhere between 2 ladies, a
ll the way up to 5 men and 5 ladies, each one playing at least in one match. A team match can result in scores 0:8, 1:7, ..., 4:4, ... ,8:0.
Each team will be allowed to default two individual matches in
the round-robin phase, each additional default will result in a
penalty of one and a half match point (so the score can actually be 1:7.5 ).
The final match for the winner of the Badminton League play-offs,
and also possibly all play-off matches, will be played at a prearranged
location with invitation of the medias and possible sponsorship coverage.
The results of each match have to be submitted by email or by fax by the
next day after the match. They will be kept in the league's database and
posted on the league's web site www.BadmintonLeague.com.
Both team captains need to sign and deliver the attached score sheet,
and keep one hard copy for themselves. Upon possible acceptance by the MBA and USAB the results of individual matches will be submitted to their ranking committees.
The results and the current standings will be also submitted for publication to
Chicagoland Badminton Players News Group,
the MBA's Flick Magazine , USA Badminton Magazine, as well as local newspapers.
Once a player played for a team, she or he can change a team only with a consent of captains of all teams. There cannot be any team change during the play-off phase. Only players who played at least one match in the round robin phase are allowed to play in the play-off matches.
Prize:
The trophy, plus at least a total of $400 cash prize from sponsorship.
The two MVP man/lady players, and the sportsmanship award will be selected by the team captains.
Funds are available for gas for the team that would need to travel to play
in the league, e.g. from Urbana or Carbondale and so on.
